Rebel: Music Video Embraces a Fusion of Art, Sound, Love, and Protest
The Entertainment Power Couple
The couple given the sobriquet, “The Entertainment Power Couple,” actress/model Dustin Quick and musician/actor Medi eM, unveiled their latest music video, Rebel, at a special world premiere event held at the Crescent Theatre in Beverly Hills on August 17, 2024.
Introduction
Rebel is a mesmerizing video that seamlessly blends music, visuals, and emotion. Created by the talented duo of Medi and Dustin and edited by Medi, this presentation represents a stunning audio and visual artistic collaboration which takes us on a journey through rhythm, rebellion, and raw passion.
The Artists
Medi eM: A visionary musician and producer, Medi eM infuses his compositions with depth and authenticity. His ability to evoke emotions through sound is unparalleled. He also has a ruggedly handsome face that lends itself to the camera. A classically trained guitarist, he also studied architecture and had a very successful career in construction but has given it up for artistic endeavors. An actor as well, Medi appeared in Bruce Willis’ last movie Assassin, which is currently on view on Amazon Prime.
Dustin Quick: By emphasizing the poetic lyrics of the video with her soulful vocals, Dustin Quick brings vitality and intensity to every note. Her voice, as well as her long curly blonde hair and vibrant good looks, resonates with listeners, leaving an indelible mark on them. Dustin’s singing and dancing expertly complement the guitar playing of her partner Medi; indeed, her ability to use her whole body expressively is a significant contribution to the video. She is a graduate of Pepperdine in theater arts and has appeared in Assassin, NCIS, and in Off Broadway Shakespearean plays. For twelve years, Dustin has been a much sought after model and has appeared in the esteemed French Fashion Week. She has also modeled for the famous designer Sue Wong for nine years.
The Music
Rebel pulses with energy, combining electronic beats, haunting melodies, and a touch of defiance. The rhythm is infectious, urging listeners to break free from conventions and embrace their inner rebellious souls. Dustin Quick’s vocals soar, expertly entwining counterpoints of strength and vulnerability. Medi eM’s instrumentals are dazzling and powerful.
The Visuals
Director/Producer/Film Editor: Medi eM takes the helm here, weaving a visual tapestry that mirrors the song’s intensity. His keen eye captures contrapuntal moments of rebellion and connection.
Videography: Xochitl Rodrigue’s cinematography adds depth to the narrative. Each frame is a canvas, revealing hidden emotions and unspoken desires. Dustin Quick’s demonstrative movements convey the essence of rebellion, her dance becoming a beguiling form of protest, echoing the song’s message. We leap with her to freedom!
The Story
Rebel unfolds in a dystopian cityscape—a place where conformity stifles individuality. Quick’s defiance becomes a dance and a rebellion against the mundane.
Medi eM comments, “The video’s concept is that everyone wants and deserves the right to live, which includes having access to water and food, but there are forces that thrive and profit on the diversion of humanity from those basic needs. So, it is up to us as a collective heart to REBEL against that machine.”
Dustin Quick expounds, “We filmed in a few iconic locations in the desert of Nevada, but the lyrics kick-off at the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Then we happened to be in Paris for Fashion Week, so we shot the Eiffel Tower scene, and the finale of the video is at the Palace of Versailles. Our goal with this work is to not only spread the message of love but also protest the greed-driven machinations of the military/industrial complex which curtail human rights and demean us all.”
Celebrities that joined in the celebration of Rebel on this August evening included: Alice Amter (The Big Bang Theory), Andy Gould (producer/Halloween), Anna Gupta (model), Callie Rose Deets (Griselda), Eve Richards (model/actress/influencer), Isaac Singleton Jr., Jacqueline Murphy (Pepito’s Mamadas, The Admired), Kate Linder, Joel Shapiro (producer/ Assassin), Larry Namer (E!
